St. Marys Rock Minor Hockey Report

The FINNBILT Construction Novice BB team successfully began their OMHA quarter-final series on Wednesday against Dorchester with a 2-0 win on home ice. Game #2 of the series is in Dorchester on Saturday while the Rock’s next home game is Monday night against Dorchester at 7:10 pm.

All three Novice LL teams (Red Wings, Sharks and Oilers) are undefeated in their respective playoff series, each with a record of a win and a tie. The next home game features the Oilers versus Lambeth on Sunday at 1:45 pm.

The Independent Grocer Atom BB team began their third-round playoff series against the Erin-Hillsburgh Devils last weekend with a win and a tie.

The series started on the road on Saturday afternoon with the game ending in a 2-2 tie. After falling behind 2-0, Jimmy Schiedel scored unassisted with just seconds remaining in the second period. Owen Boyd then converted the tying goal with 2:37 left in the third, with assists going to defencemen RJ Martin and Rourke McEwan. Kiefer MacNeil was solid in net for the Rock.

Sunday afternoon was another close contest between St. Marys and Erin-Hillsburgh, with the Rock prevailing 5-3. Jimmy Schiedel scored twice, including an empty-netter. Ian Boyd, Owen Boyd and Ethan Brine also scored, and Jake Sorensen earned the win.

The series continues this weekend, with Game #3 at Erin on Saturday at 3:30 pm and Game #4 back in St. Marys on Sunday at 1 pm.

The St. Marys Landscaping Atom Girls are 2-0 to start their playoffs, with wins over Stratford and BCH. This Sunday the girls take on the Mitchell Meteors at the PRC at 3:00 pm.

The Atom LL Jets had a strong start to their playoffs with a 7-1 win over Lucan last Sunday. Tim Neufeld led the way with 4 goals and an assist.
