Slo-Pitch Tournament (Gallery)

Our Team of the Week is the Jets, who managed an unlikely comeback last Sunday to claim the B Division title at the St. Marys Men’s Slo-Pitch year-end tournament. The Jets had a record of 2-0 for the weekend when they fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs Sunday morning. This meant they would need to win three in a row to win it all. The team came together for a 16-6 semi-final win over the Brewers. That forced a final between the Jets and Bulldogs, with the Jets needing to win twice. The teams have met under similar circumstances before, such as in the ‘A’ Division final in 2012. The Jets fell behind 10-4 going into the sixth inning of Game 1, but muscled out a 14-12 victory. Now flying at full force, the Jets completed the comeback with a 9-2 win in Game 2. The Jets are, from left, back row: Matt Grose, Geoff Kittmer, Greg Bilyea, Ken French, Scott Fairthorne, Dan Goodson, Tony Fluttert, Adam Wheal, Chad Grose. Front row: Andrew Betteridge, Brett Bickell, Ryan Harris. Absent were: Tony Lamond, Phil Hodgins, Jeff Robinson, Jason Masselis and Chris Rumble
