Shoplifter arrested

On Friday afternoon June 26, a male party entered the St.Marys Canadian Tire Store and after a period of time exited the store with an automotive item, without having paid for it. The male who left the store was later identified.
On Saturday afternoon June 27, store employees observed the same male re-attend at the St.Marys Canadian Tire Store. The male entered the store, but after being approached by store staff left without making a purchase. Store personnel contacted the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) however the suspect had already driven away from the store. A store employee followed the suspect in another vehicle advising police of the suspect’s location. Members of the Perth County OPP were able to pull over the suspect vehicle on Hwy 7 near Perth Line 26 (South of Stratford).
Jasvinder-Singh NIJJAR (48) of Stratford was arrested and has been charged with “theft under $5,000 – shoplifting”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 27, 2015, where he will have to answer to the charge.
