Near Ottawa on Feb. 24, Granton trucker Randy McCurdy was involved in a serious collision.
According to one of a pair of online fundraising pages that has sprung up in order to raise money for McCurdy’s recovery and support his wife and three children, “another truck hit him head on,” breaking his back and ribs. He’s currently recovering from his injuries in hospital in Ottawa.
As of Thursday afternoon, a combined 76 donors to the GoFundMe.com page “To Help Randy McCurdy” and YouCaring.com page “Support Randy and Sandra McCurdy in their time of need,” had raised a combined $6,110 towards the recovery of the man his friends refer to as “Big Hoss.”
“Please help if you can so Sandra doesn’t have to worry about expenses at this time for travel, possible medical expenses that may not be covered, phone bills, etc, etc.,” reads the YouCaring.com page set up by Tara Firby. “Every little bit will help.”
A post by Randy’s wife Sandra dated Mar. 2 on the YouCaring.com page reads: “Our Miracle Man is on his road to recovery!”
In the post, Sandra thanks their friends and family for their positivity and prayers and says that Randy has begun “breathing mostly on his own now,” and relying less on a breathing tube. A previous post dated Feb. 27 indicated that an internal organ scan came back clear.
“He is awake and started to talk to us,” Sandra wrote. “This is great news, keep those positive vibes, thoughts and prayers coming!!! Thank you to everyone’s blessings!”
