Lincolns lose final tuneup game, go 0-4 in preseason

By Dan Rankin
In their fourth and final exhibition tilt prior to the 2015-2016 GOJHL season, the St. Marys Lincolns were shutout 4-0 by the London Nationals on Sept. 4.
It capped off a winless preseason for the Lincolns, who have still yet to post a victory since a 4-2 home win versus Lambton Shores on Nov. 7 last season. The last time they earned a point in the standings was in a 5-4 overtime loss to LaSalle on Dec. 17.
Last Friday, London struck once with a goal in the first period, before piling on three more in the second. St. Marys out-chanced their opponents in the third, registering 10 shots to London’s 5 in the final frame, but couldn’t find an answer to Nationals’ goalie Connor Hughes who got the shutout. Starting in four of London’s six preseason games, Hughes played 10 periods including two complete games, allowing three total goals while making 92 saves.
London out-shot St. Marys overall 28-24. Brandon Glover and Trevor Dulong each had a goal and an assist for London in the win.
The Lincolns begin their 2015-2016 season tonight, along with the rest of the GOJHL, in London at the Western Fair Arena. St. Marys plays Brantford of the Midwestern Conference at 7:30 tonight, then face Welland of the Golden Horseshoe Conference tomorrow night at 7:30 pm. Their first home game is Friday, Sept. 18 when they host the LaSalle Vipers beginning at 7:30 pm.
