Fourth annual downtown car show takes over St. Marys tomorrow

By Dan Rankin
Break out your shades, because things are bound to be more than a little shiny downtown tomorrow during the Fourth Annual Downtown Car Show. The “show ‘n’ shine” portion of the day runs from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, said the town’s event and recreation co-ordinator Brian Tschirsow. “During that time, the streets will be filled with cars for everyone in the community and visitors to come check out,” he said.

Last year, Tschirsow said about 120 cars took part in the show. This year, to encourage even more people to come out, the town will also be closing down a section of Wellington Street South for cars to be displayed.
Registration for vehicles runs between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm Saturday morning. Registered vehicles have the chance to win door prizes throughout the day.
Also taking place downtown on Saturday morning at 10:00 am will be an outdoor fitness class put on by the Friendship Centre. “We also have food vendors that are going to be set up there, including Frenchie’s Fries, Black Angus, a Senior Services Barbecue, and Sunset Diner will be there as well, selling milkshakes and some other items,” he added. A DJ will be pumping out classic car-driving tunes throughout the day.
