John McCarthy, pictured at left, a representative of the friends of Gary Douglas, presents a cheque for $2,500 to Pete Frehner, President of the St. Marys Minor Hockey Association. The money was raised at the Fourth Annual Gary Douglas Memorial golf tournament held Aug. 15 at River Valley Golf and Country Club. The money will help put kids on the ice whose families otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford necessities like equipment and registration, Frehner said. McCarthy thanked the 60 participants in the tournament as well as River Valley for their hard work in organizing the day.
