It’s been a very busy couple of months for Dave & Sylvie Lucas. On December 1st, they purchased the building at 133 King Street, currently known as the home of Bob Smibert’s Fitness Studio. A month later, they bought the fitness business to go with it.
Dave & Sylvie both have a passion for the fitness industry, making the acquisition a great fit for their family, which also includes children Sarah, Dylan and Jared. While both Dave & Sylvie are certified personal trainers, they each have full-time careers outside of the studio. Dave works for Finnbilt as a Superintendent and Sylvie works for Chartwell Retirement Communities as a Director of Regional Operations in their Long Term Care division.
When asked about their plans for the studio, Sylvie responded, “At the moment, it is business as usual. We have some exciting ideas on what we can do to provide some variety to the already existing format, based on feedback from our current clients and our trainers. We are excited to be a part of what Bob Smibert started within the community and we will work towards growing his vision with the incredible team that is in place under the management of Katie Curtis.”
As owners of both the business and the building itself, the Lucas’ look to reconfigure the interior at 133 King to create a great home for not only a fitness studio but hopefully other businesses that are focused on health and wellness.
“Our goal is to spruce the place up, providing a safe and clean environment. We would love to engage with some allied health professionals to provide onsite offices and create a healthy community hub. Anyone interested in more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.”
