Benefit party, auction at golf course tonight – By Dan Rankin

Friends of a local woman battling brain cancer are holding a patio party fundraiser and auction at the St. Marys Golf and Country Club tonight beginning at 9:00 pm. Erin Voss, 28, found out in the summer of 2010 that the headaches, exhaustion, nausea and dizziness she had been experiencing were the result of three masses on her brain. She found out on Sept. 21, 2010 it was Glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive kind of brain tumour. An avid athlete and ringette player in St. Marys and area as a teenager, since 2011 Voss along with her friends and family have taken part in the London Spring Sprint, put on by the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, to raise money for the cause.
Voss has been recently been receiving additional cancer treatments that cost about $8,000 per month. That’s why her friends have organized the party and auction tonight. Admission is $10, however additional donations in the form of cash or cheque (payable to Scott Voss, in trust for Erin Voss) will also be accepted. They have also set up a trust account (#5018635) at the Royal Bank of Canada’s St. Marys branch, that anyone can donate to from now until Aug. 7.
The donation of items for tonight’s auction will also still be accepted today, and can be dropped off at the golf course.
